Indonesia Sends 415 Athletes to the 2022 Asian Games, Third Most in Southeast Asia

The 2022 Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, took place from September 23, 2023, to October 8, 2023.

According to the official Asian Games 2023 website, 11,907 athletes from participating countries are involved in this prestigious Asian sporting event.

Of the 11 Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia is the third largest contributor of athletes to the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

The Indonesian team, known as "Tim Merah Putih," comprises 415 athletes competing in 31 sports.

Indonesia's Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, stated that all Indonesian athletes participating in the Asian Games 2022 have the potential to win medals. They have undergone extensive training, competitions, and health checks.

"Our target for the Asian Games is to be in the top 12 (final standings) with 8 to 12 gold medals. For the Asian Para Games, our target is the top 10 with 20 gold medals," said Dito in an official statement on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Thailand is the Southeast Asian country with the largest number of representatives, sending 932 athletes. Thailand is the only country in the region participating in all contested sports.

Singapore is in second place, sending 429 athletes to participate in 32 sports at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
