Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector is the leading contributor.
The wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector in Kupang City recorded a value of Rp4.7 trillion in 2023. This ranks first among the 17 sectors. This sector grew by 6.37% compared to the previous year's figure of Rp4.11 trillion.
Second is the construction sector, which grew by 6.6% to Rp4.26 trillion, followed by the education services sector with a GRDP of Rp3.75 trillion (0.24% growth).
Finally, rounding out the top five GRDP sectors in Kupang City is government administration, defense, and compulsory social security, with a value of Rp2.44 trillion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 4.09% over the past year from the previous year's Rp2.26 trillion.
