Breaking Record: Public Losses from the Indosurya Cooperative's Fraud are the Largest in Indonesian History

The Attorney General's Office estimates losses in the Indosurya Cooperative Savings and Loan (KSP) investment case to reach Rp106 trillion (approximately US$7 billion), affecting 23,000 victims. This makes Indosurya the largest embezzlement case in Indonesian history.

"This case has drawn national attention due to the unprecedented scale of losses; there has never been a case with Rp106 trillion in losses suffered by the Indonesian people," said Fadil Zumhana, the Attorney General's Office's Director of Criminal Investigation, as quoted by Detik.com on Friday (September 30th).

Fadil stated that the case involving KSP Indosurya is currently being tried in the West Jakarta District Court. The two defendants are Henry Surya, the chairman of KSP Indosurya, and Cipta June Indria, the financial director of KSP Indosurya.

However, another suspect, Suwito Ayub, remains a fugitive and is on the wanted list (DPO), and therefore has not yet been brought to court.

Besides KSP Indosurya, several other cases of fraud or breach of contract with significant losses have occurred in Indonesia.
