Public Satisfaction with the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Administration's Economic Performance

A Kompas Research and Development survey shows that public satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in the economic sector has increased during their two years in office. In fact, the level of satisfaction with Jokowi-Ma'ruf's performance in this area has risen compared to six months prior.

According to the survey, public satisfaction with Jokowi-Ma'ruf's economic performance reached 58.7% in October 2021. This percentage is up from 57.8% six months earlier.

This increase indicates that the economic recovery during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is on track. The improvement in public satisfaction is also linked to economic growth of 7.07% (yoy) in the second quarter of 2021.

However, the Jokowi-Ma'ruf administration needs to be wary of public satisfaction in other areas, such as politics and security, law enforcement, and social welfare. Instead of increasing, public satisfaction in these three areas has declined.

The Kompas Research and Development conducted the survey among 1,200 respondents across Indonesia from September 26 to October 9, 2021. The survey used a stratified systematic sampling method with a margin of error of 2.8% and a 95% confidence level.
