Palembang's Economy, the Largest in South Sumatra in 2020

In 2020, Palembang's economy was the largest in South Sumatra. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the regional gross domestic product (RGDP) at current prices (ADHB) in the city was Rp 155.82 trillion that year. The city's economy contributed 33.69% to the total ADHB RGDP of all regencies/cities in South Sumatra.

Palembang's RGDP was supported by the manufacturing industry, which reached Rp 48.71 trillion (31.26%). The construction sector also contributed to Palembang's economy, amounting to Rp 26.79 trillion (17.19%).

Second place was occupied by Musi Banyuasin Regency with an RGDP of Rp 66.51 trillion in 2020. Following that was Muara Enim Regency with an RGDP of Rp 57.76 trillion.

Ogan Komering Ilir Regency and Banyuasin Regency each had an RGDP of Rp 29.43 trillion and Rp 29.19 trillion, respectively. Musi Rawas Regency had an RGDP of Rp 19.3 trillion.

Lahat Regency's RGDP was recorded at Rp 17.36 trillion. Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency had an RGDP of Rp 15.29 trillion. Meanwhile, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency and Ogan Ilir Regency had RGDPs of Rp 14.83 trillion and Rp 11.34 trillion, respectively.

Musi Banyuasin Regency had the highest per capita RGDP in South Sumatra, namely Rp 101.49 million in 2020. It was followed by Palembang City with a per capita RGDP of Rp 92.68 million.

Empat Lawang Regency had the lowest per capita RGDP, at Rp 20.09 million. Above it was Pagar Alam City with a per capita RGDP of Rp 20.2 million.
