Indonesia's GNI per Capita Reached US$4,140 in 2021, What is its Southeast Asian Ranking?

The World Bank report shows that Indonesia's Gross National Income (GNI) per capita was US$4,140 in 2021. Similar to the previous year, this figure places Indonesia in 4th place in Southeast Asia.

Singapore held the top position with a GNI per capita of US$64,010 in 2021. Malaysia was second with a GNI per capita of US$10,930, and Thailand was third with US$7,260.

Below Indonesia were the Philippines and Vietnam, with GNI per capita of US$3,640 and US$3,560 respectively. Myanmar had the lowest GNI per capita at US$1,140.

According to the World Bank's classification, the majority of Southeast Asian countries fall into the lower-middle-income category, due to their GNI per capita ranging from US$1,086 to US$4,255.

Thailand and Malaysia are exceptions, categorized as upper-middle-income countries with GNI per capita ranging from US$4,256 to US$13,205. Singapore is classified as a high-income country with a GNI per capita exceeding US$13,205.
