The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) receives an allocation of Rp139.26 trillion in the 2024 State Budget (APBN).
The budget for the ministry led by Prabowo Subianto is down approximately 3.46% from the 2023 outlook of Rp144.26 trillion.
Based on allocation items, the largest budget is allocated for management support, amounting to Rp77.56 trillion.
The second largest budget item is the modernization of main weapon systems (alutsista) and non-alutsista, as well as defense infrastructure (sarpras), totaling Rp43.01 trillion.

Next, there is the item for the professionalism and welfare of soldiers, which is budgeted at Rp12.37 trillion.

The budget for the defense function is implemented by three ministries/agencies, namely the Ministry of Defense, the National Resilience Council, and the National Resilience Institute.
The government states that various defense and security challenges faced by the nation are increasingly complex and dynamic. These challenges can come from military, non-military, and hybrid aspects.
"Therefore, to face various possibilities, strengthening the defense and security sector is necessary," reads the 2024 APBN Financial Note report.
The budget in the 2024 fiscal year budget is planned to produce strategic outputs in the defense function in 2024, including:
* Military operations other than war (OMSP);
* Construction of military housing;
* Procurement of alutsista;
* Maintenance/upkeep/improvement of alutsista; and
* Construction and procurement of defense infrastructure.
