These 10 Regencies/Cities Experienced the Highest Food Inflation in June 2022

A survey by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that ten regencies/cities experienced the highest food inflation. Bungo is recorded as the area with the highest food price inflation in June 2022 out of 90 regencies/cities.

The food price index in one of the regencies in Jambi was at 124.37 in June 2024. Thus, the food price index in Bungo Regency increased by 5.89% compared to the previous month (month-to-month/m-to-m).

Compared to June of the previous year, food inflation in Bungo Regency reached 19.29% (year-on-year/yoy). Similarly, compared to the beginning of the index calculation (2018=100), food prices in this regency have increased by 24.37%. This annual inflation is higher than the national average and is also the highest compared to the other 89 regencies/cities.

The next area with the highest food inflation in June 2022 was Bukittinggi City, reaching 17.06% (yoy). This was followed by Sintang Regency with food inflation of 16.97% (yoy), Pekanbaru City with 15.98% (yoy), Singaraja Regency with 15.77% (yoy), and Jambi City with 15.28% (yoy).

Following these were Metro City with a food price increase in June 2022 of 14.65% (yoy), Padang City with food inflation of 13.61% (yoy), Bandar Lampung City (13.39%), and Padangsidimpuan City with 13.1% (yoy).

For information, the national food price index increased by 2.1% (m-to-m) in June 2022. Compared to June 2021, the average national food price experienced inflation of 9.1% (yoy).
