Wholesale Price Index Increased by 0.32% in November 2021

A report from Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) in November 2021 reached 106.88 points. This represents a 0.32% increase from the October 2021 WPI of 106.54 points.

Compared to the same period last year, the November 2021 WPI increased by 2.71%. The November 2020 WPI was recorded at 104.06 points.

The highest monthly increase in the November 2021 WPI was observed in the Mining and Quarrying sector, rising 1.09% from 109.43 points to 110.62 points. This sector contributed 0.01% to the overall WPI change.

The WPI for the industrial sector increased by 0.44% month-on-month, rising from 107.93 points to 108.40 points. The industrial sector was the dominant contributor to the WPI change, accounting for 0.35%.

Meanwhile, the WPI for the agricultural sector decreased by 0.22% month-on-month, falling from 100.70 points to 100.48 points. The agricultural sector contributed -0.04% to the November 2021 WPI change.

Several commodities experienced price increases in November 2021, including chicken eggs, palm oil, red chilies, coal, cooking oil, cement, and urea fertilizer.

The WPI is an index number that reflects the magnitude of price changes at the wholesale/grocer level for commodities traded in a country/region. These commodities include domestically produced goods marketed domestically or exported, as well as imported commodities.
