Starting January 6, 2017, new fees will be implemented for the issuance and processing of Motor Vehicle Registration Certificates (STNK) and Motor Vehicle Ownership Books (BPKB). This fee increase is stipulated in Government Regulation Number 60 of 2016 concerning the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP), issued on December 6, 2016, and will take effect 30 days after its issuance. This regulation replaces the previous regulation, PP No. 50 of 2010.
Under PP No. 60 of 2016, STNK issuance for two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles will increase by 100 percent to Rp 100,000, while for four-wheeled vehicles or more, it will increase by 167 percent to Rp 200,000. For BPKB issuance, two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles will see a 181 percent increase to Rp 225,000, while four-wheeled vehicles or more will see a 375 percent increase to Rp 375,000. The cost for vehicle transfer for two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles will increase by 100 percent to Rp 150,000, while for four-wheeled vehicles or more, it will increase by 233 percent to Rp 250,000.
For STNK verification, which was previously free, the new PP will impose a fee of Rp 25,000 for two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles and Rp 50,000 for four-wheeled vehicles or more. Unfortunately, this new tariff increase is not accompanied by improved services. Processing STNK and BPKB can take several months.
