Provinces with the Largest Inflows of Foreign Investment in 2017

Throughout 2017, Indonesia received US$32.3 billion in foreign investment, equivalent to Rp430.5 trillion. This investment realization increased by 11.41% from the previous year, which amounted to Rp386.4 trillion.

According to data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), US$5.1 billion of this foreign investment flowed into West Java Province. This makes West Java the province that received the largest investment throughout last year. A total of 5,309 projects were implemented in West Java. Cooperation with provincial governments in several countries (Sister Provinces), the presence of several mining sites, and its proximity to Jakarta are reasons for the high interest in foreign investment in West Java.

DKI Jakarta occupies second place with foreign investment reaching US$4.6 billion, or Rp61.6 trillion, with 8,803 projects. Meanwhile, Banten is in third place with investment of US$3.04 billion, or Rp40.1 trillion, involving 2,479 units.
