Public satisfaction with the performance of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Ma'ruf Amin administration showed a decline in December 2023.
This phenomenon is recorded in the latest Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey entitled "Appreciation for the Government Remains High". 73.5% of respondents stated satisfaction with the Jokowi-Ma'ruf performance.
However, this figure is a slight decrease from the August 2023 survey, which reached 74.3%.
"High public satisfaction is more often expressed by those living in rural areas, with low educational backgrounds, and from the lower-middle and lower social classes," said Kompas Litbang researcher Yoga Prasetyo in his report on Wednesday (13/12/2023).
However, in terms of political preference, the level of satisfaction with government performance is more often voiced by Jokowi-Ma'ruf supporters, namely 84.6% of respondents.
More specifically, there is public satisfaction with the Jokowi administration's performance in several aspects, including political and security affairs (polkam), law enforcement, the economy, and social welfare.
In the polkam category, it has the highest satisfaction rate of the three other categories. 80.2% of respondents said they were satisfied with the government's performance in this area, while the remainder were dissatisfied.
"Amidst current political conditions, including the polemics surrounding the Constitutional Court's decision, the government has proven to be able to maintain a sense of security," wrote the Kompas Litbang researcher.
This is followed by respondent satisfaction in the social welfare aspect, with 80.1% of respondents expressing satisfaction.
Meanwhile, public satisfaction with the Jokowi administration in the areas of economy and law enforcement has a lower proportion, achieving satisfaction from 60.8% and 58.3% of respondents, respectively.
This periodic survey conducted by Litbang Kompas involved 1,364 respondents, randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method in 38 provinces in Indonesia.
Data collection was conducted from November 29 to December 4, 2023, through face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is approximately 2.65% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
