Indonesia's State Budget Deficit Reached Rp 383.2 Trillion in August 2021

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded a state budget deficit (APBN) of Rp 383.2 trillion in August 2021. This figure is equivalent to 2.32% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The August 2021 APBN deficit was 23.9% lower than the same period the previous year. In August 2020, the APBN deficit was recorded at Rp 503.8 trillion.

According to Kemenkeu, the APBN deficit occurred due to lower state revenue realization compared to state expenditure. State revenue realization reached Rp 1,777.6 trillion until last month, a 13.9% increase compared to the same period last year, which was Rp 1,034.3 trillion.

In detail, state revenue from tax receipts amounted to Rp 741.3 trillion. Import duty and excise duty receipts totaled Rp 158 trillion. Non-tax state revenue (PNBP) realization reached Rp 277.7 trillion.

Meanwhile, state expenditure was recorded at Rp 1,560.8 trillion in the first eight months of this year. This realization increased by 1.5% compared to the same period the previous year, which was Rp 1,538.1 trillion.

The details are as follows: central government expenditure reached Rp 1,087.9 trillion. Transfers to regions and village funds reached Rp 472.9 trillion.

Furthermore, the primary balance experienced a deficit of Rp 170 trillion until August 2021. This figure is 44.7% lower compared to the same period the previous year, which was a deficit of Rp 307.3 trillion.
