Forbes has released its latest list of the richest people in Indonesia in 2022. The Hartono brothers, owners of the Djarum Group, remain at the top as the wealthiest individuals in the country this year.
According to Forbes' report, *Indonesia's 50 Richest*, Budi and Michael Hartono's combined wealth reached US$47.7 billion or Rp746.07 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp15,641/US$). Their net worth increased by US$5.1 billion compared to 2021.
Their wealth surged, partly due to the initial public offering (IPO) of Blibli's parent company, Global Digital Niaga, which raised Rp8 trillion in November 2022.
Next, Low Tuck Kwong is ranked second on this year's list of Indonesia's richest individuals, with a net worth of US$12.1 billion or Rp189.25 trillion.
The global rise in coal prices benefited the owner of Bayan Resources. Low Tuck Kwong's wealth has increased almost fivefold from US$2.55 billion in 2021.
The Widjaja family occupies the third position on the list of Indonesia's wealthiest. This Sinar Mas conglomerate has assets totaling US$10.8 billion or Rp168.92 trillion.
Sri Prakash Lohia is ranked fourth, the owner of Indorama Corp. with a total net worth of US$7.7 billion or Rp120.43 trillion. Following him, Anthony Salim, owner of Salim Group, holds the fifth position with a net worth of US$7.5 billion or Rp117.3 trillion.
Overall, Forbes recorded the total wealth of the 50 richest Indonesians at US$180 billion or Rp2,815 trillion. This figure is up from US$162 billion last year.
