The 2023 Syed Modi International badminton tournament concluded on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, an Indonesian mixed doubles pair, emerged victorious.
The pair, known as Dejan/Gloria, defeated the Japanese mixed doubles team of Yuki Kaneko/Misaki Matsutomo in the final with a score of 20-22, 21-19, and 25-23.
This win marked their first championship since pairing up in 2022, filling a gap in Indonesia's mixed doubles titles this year.
According to the latest world rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on December 8, 2023, Dejan/Gloria climbed two places to 16th in the world with 57,386 points.
They are ranked just below fellow Indonesian national team athletes Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, who collected 57,544 points and are ranked 15th in the world.
Another Indonesian pair, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, remained at 20th place with 53,330 points.
Dejan/Gloria are currently competing in the Guwahati Masters 2023, held from December 5-10, 2023, at the Saru Sajai Indoor Sports Complex in Guwahati, India. They have reached the quarter-finals; winning the tournament would significantly boost their BWF world ranking points.
