How many members of the DPR and DPRD have been caught in corruption cases?

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named 22 members of the Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) as suspects in corruption crimes. This will add to the long list of elected officials implicated in corruption cases.

KPK data records that 61 members of the DPR and DPRD have been named suspects in corruption cases between January and May 2018. This figure is more than half the number of private sector officials/employees caught by the anti-corruption commission, which reached 118 people. Therefore, since 2004, the number of DPR and DPRD members involved in corruption cases has reached 205, or 24% of the total 856 people.

For information, out of a total of 45 members of the Malang City DPRD, 41 have been apprehended by the KPK. As elected representatives, these council members committed reprehensible acts by engaging in corruption collectively. Furthermore, the bribery case in the discussion of the Malang City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget in 2015 also involved the former Mayor of Malang.
