Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the highest position in company management. Elon Musk was recorded as the highest-paid CEO in the world in 2020.
According to the Bloomberg Pay Index report, in 2020, the head of Tesla received US$6.65 billion, or approximately Rp96.8 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp14,458/US$). Most of his compensation was in the form of option awards, which are options to buy company shares at a specific price.
The rise in Tesla's share price increased Elon Musk's compensation. According to Forbes, in 2020, Tesla's share price soared by 705%, making it one of the companies with the largest market capitalization on the US stock exchange.
Elon Musk's compensation was far higher than the second position on the list. Second place was occupied by Mike Pykosz, CEO of Oak Street Health, who received US$568.44 million, or approximately Rp8.2 trillion.

Recently, Elon Musk bought Twitter for US$44 billion, or approximately Rp636 trillion, on Monday, April 25, 2022. The Twitter Board of Directors accepted Musk's offer of US$54.20 per share.
"Upon completion of the transaction, Twitter will become a private company, no longer a public company listed on the US stock exchange," stated the Twitter Board of Directors, as quoted by The Verge, Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
