Semarang City and Cilacap Regency lead the economy in Central Java Province. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the 2017 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Semarang City, measured at current prices, reached Rp 161.25 trillion, or 13.7% of Central Java's total GRDP of Rp 1,176.5 trillion, while Cilacap's GRDP was Rp 105.67 trillion (8.98%).
Kudus is the third-largest economy in Central Java, with a GRDP of Rp 97.5 trillion (8.29%). Boyolali's economy ranks 15th, with a GRDP of Rp 28.5 trillion (2.42%). Magelang City has the lowest GRDP, reaching only Rp 7.64 trillion, or just 0.65% of Central Java's total economy.
Central Java's GRDP in 2017, measured at constant prices, reached Rp 894 trillion, growing 5.27% from Rp 849.31 trillion the previous year. The manufacturing industry is the largest contributor to Central Java's economy, with a value of Rp 308.82 trillion, or 34.54% of the total GRDP. This is followed by wholesale and retail trade at Rp 129.32 trillion (14.47%) and agriculture at Rp 118.12 trillion (13.21%).
