National ID (NIK) and Taxpayer ID (NPWP) Integration Reaches 84% by the End of February 2024

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that the matching of the Population Identification Number (NIK) with the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) has reached 84% as of February 28, 2024.

"To date, the NIK-NPWP matching has reached 61,516,178 or 84.02% of the total 73.2 million that need to be matched," said DJP Director of Outreach, Service, and Public Relations Dwi Astuti, as reported by Antara on Wednesday (28/2/2024).

Thus, there are still approximately 11.69 million NIKs that need to be matched with NPWP.

However, Dwi stated that some NIKs do not need to be matched because the taxpayers have passed away, their NPWP is inactive, or they no longer reside in Indonesia.

Separately, Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo urged the public to immediately match their NIK with their NPWP so that taxpayer data is recorded as an indicator for the implementation of the core tax administration system (CTAS).

"We are also cooperating with the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration to match the remaining 12.3 million that have not yet been properly matched," said Suryo during the APBN KiTa press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (22/2/2024).

Taxpayers can independently match their NIK and NPWP through the pajak.go.id website. The website provides virtual assistance for taxpayers experiencing difficulties with the process.

The full implementation of NIK as NPWP will begin on July 1, 2024. This is stipulated in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 136 of 2023 concerning amendments to PMK Number 112/PMK.03/2022 concerning NPWP for Individuals, Corporate Taxpayers, and Government Institution Taxpayers.
