West Java is the most populous province in Indonesia, appearing darkest on the map. Based on the 2015-2045 Indonesian Population Projection, the population of Tanah Pasundan reaches 49 million, or approximately 18% of Indonesia's total population of 266.91 million.
The second most populous province is East Java with 39.74 million inhabitants, followed by Central Java with 34.55 million in third place. Meanwhile, the province with the smallest population is North Kalimantan, reaching only 696 thousand, or 0.26% of Indonesia's population.

For information, Indonesia's population is still concentrated on Java Island. The population of the six provinces on Java Island totals 150.4 million, or more than 56% of Indonesia's population. The population of Sumatra Island reaches 58.46 million (21.9%), Kalimantan Island 16.23 million (6.08%), Bali and Nusa Tenggara 14.95 million (5.6%), Sulawesi Island 19.56 million (7.33%), and Maluku and Papua 7.3 million (2.74%).
