The investigation into the death of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, alias Brigadier J, continues. Entering its second month, media exposure and various social media platforms remain abuzz with developments in the case.
Kompas Research and Development's survey shows that the majority of respondents, or 67.6%, believe the case of Brigadier J's death will be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement. This breaks down to 57.9% who are certain and 9.7% who are very certain.
Meanwhile, 29.5% of respondents said the case of Brigadier J's death will not be thoroughly investigated. 26.9% are uncertain and 2.6% are very uncertain that the case will be thoroughly investigated.
On the other hand, 63.3% of respondents believe that justice will be served in this case, even though the perpetrators involved in the murder of Brigadier J are members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
"This attitude is inseparable from the commitment of the National Police Chief, General (Pol) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who formed a special team led by the Deputy National Police Chief, Commissioner General Gatot Eddy Pramono," said Kompas Research and Development researcher Eren Marsyukrilla, as quoted from Kompas.id on Monday (5/9/2022).
Kompas Research and Development also mentions several steps taken by the Polri that are considered evidence of their seriousness in uncovering this case. These steps include the naming of five suspects: former Head of the Professional and Security Division of the Polri, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo; Sambo's wife, Putri Candrawathi; two of Sambo's aides, Bharada Richard Eliezer and Bripka Ricky Rizal; and Sambo's housekeeper, Kuat Ma'ruf.
"(The seriousness in uncovering the case) this message seems to have been clearly conveyed, thus alleviating public concerns about the uncertainty surrounding the investigation," wrote Kompas Research and Development.
This survey was conducted through telephone interviews with 502 respondents from 34 provinces between August 23-26, 2022. The sample was randomly determined from Kompas Research and Development's panel respondents, according to the population proportion in each province.
Using this method, at a 95% confidence level, the sampling error is approximately 4.37% under simple random sampling conditions.
