Jakarta Traffic Congestion Dramatically Reduced During the Corona Pandemic

Traffic congestion in Jakarta significantly decreased during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. This caused Jakarta to drop from 10th to 31st place in the list of the world's most congested cities in 2020.

Historically, Jakarta's congestion levels were quite high in January and February 2020, at 55% and 61% respectively. Congestion levels began to decline to 44% in March 2020.

When the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) were implemented in April 2020, Jakarta's congestion level reached its lowest point at 11%. Congestion in the capital began to increase from May 2020 onwards, but fell again in September 2020 following the implementation of PSBB phase II.

In October 2020, Jakarta's congestion level was recorded at 28%. Meanwhile, congestion levels in Jakarta during the last two months of 2020 reached 34%.
