Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Early This Morning (Friday, April 18, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 04.40 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 19 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed at approximately None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

The eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 56 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on April 18, 2025, from 18.00 to 23.59 WITA showed 2 eruption quakes with amplitudes of 7.4-11 millimeters and durations of 67-84 seconds. Then, there were 8 volcanic tremor events with amplitudes of 2.9-7.4 millimeters and durations of 35-186 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 2,927 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,335 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 269 times.
