According to BMKG's Meteorology Deputy, Guswanto, the high temperatures in recent days are due to the apparent position of the sun currently being in the northern hemisphere.
This phenomenon indicates that parts of Indonesia are starting to enter the dry season, where cloud formation and rainfall will be significantly reduced.
"Therefore, clear skies in the morning and early afternoon will be quite dominant," said Guswanto in a press release on Sunday (May 8, 2022).
Guswanto also explained that the dominance of clear skies and low cloud cover can optimize the reception of sunlight on the earth's surface, causing hot conditions during the day.
The BMKG urges the public to be aware of the hot or scorching conditions until mid-May 2022. The public is advised to maintain stamina and adequate fluid intake, especially those who are active outdoors during the day.
