The Israeli-Palestinian Hamas war, which erupted on October 7, 2023, continues to claim lives, particularly among Palestinians.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), up to the 47th day of the war, November 22, 2023, the total number of Palestinian casualties reached 14,758. This includes 14,532 deaths in the Gaza Strip and 226 in the West Bank.
The total number of Palestinian casualties in this war is more than 11 times higher than the number of Israeli casualties.
According to data compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the total number of Israeli casualties is approximately 1,275.
OCHA also reported that fighting had not subsided as of November 22, 2023.
"Air strikes and shelling by Israeli forces continued in various areas of the Gaza Strip," OCHA stated in its report on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
"Rocket fire by Palestinian armed groups towards Israeli settlements continued in the last 24 hours, with no reported casualties," it continued.
Despite ongoing attacks, according to *Al Jazeera*, Israel and Hamas have currently agreed to a ceasefire for the release of hostages.
*Al Jazeera* reported that Hamas has confirmed it will release 50 Israeli women and children it is holding hostage, on the condition that Israel releases 150 Palestinian women and children it has imprisoned.
"A ceasefire will be announced within the next 24 hours and will last for four days," said a representative of the Qatari government, acting as a mediator between Israel and Hamas, as broadcast by *Al Jazeera* on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
During the ceasefire, Israel stated it would halt attacks on the Gaza Strip and allow the entry of hundreds of humanitarian aid trucks carrying medical supplies and fuel.
However, as of Thursday noon (November 23, 2023), there was still no certainty about when the ceasefire would begin.
