Pontianak City is the most populous area in West Kalimantan Province, with 679,820 inhabitants (12.23%) of the total population.

Next is Sambas Regency with a population of 645,600 (11.62%), Kubu Raya Regency with 625,070 (11.25%), and Ketapang Regency with 578,980 (10.42%).

Meanwhile, Kayong Utara Regency is the regency/city with the smallest population, at only 127,960 (2.3%).
