The 10 Most Peaceful Countries in the World 2024: Is Indonesia Included?

The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has released its *Global Peace Index 2024* report. This report includes peace index scores for 163 countries, encompassing 99.7% of the global population.

The IEP measures the *Global Peace Index* (GPI) based on 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators grouped into three main domains: ongoing conflict, safety and security, and militarization.

Each indicator is scored on a scale of 1-5, then aggregated. The lower the score, the more peaceful a country is considered to be.

Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world in 2024, with a GPI score of 1.112 points. This marks its 16th consecutive year at the top, since 2008.

However, its score decreased by 0.012 points from last year due to a slight increase in demonstrations and violence in Iceland.

Ireland follows in second place with a score of 1.303 points. Austria rose one position to third place with a score of 1.313 points.

Indonesia ranks 48th globally with a score of 1.857 points, a four-place drop from the previous year.
