Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Thursday, February 6, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 9:03 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 5 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the observed ash column height reached None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 14.8 millimeters and a duration of 67 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on February 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM WITA showed 3 instances of puffing earthquakes with amplitudes of 3.7-7.4 millimeters and durations of 47-123 seconds.

Then, 3 harmonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-7.4 millimeters and durations of 75-156 seconds, and 2 low-frequency earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-7.4 millimeters and durations of 26-30 seconds.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, and in the Southwest-North-Northeast sector up to 6 kilometers.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 1,072 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (550 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 40 times.
