2024 Update: Buton Tengah Regency Population Totals 120,420

The population of Buton Tengah Regency was recorded at 120,420 as of 2024. The population has been increasing for the past nine years. The growth rate over the last five years has been quite high, at 5.28%.

Compared to other regencies/cities in Southeast Sulawesi province, Buton Tengah Regency ranks 11th in terms of population. When grouped by island, it ranks 68th.

According to 2024 data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 73,611 people, or about 61.13% of the population of Buton Tengah Regency, are in the productive age group (15-59 years). Approximately 29.15% of the total population, or about 35,105, are children (aged 0-14 years), and another 9.72% are aged over 60 years.
