Food Insecurity Prevalence in South Buru Reaches 38.87% in 2023

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in South Buru Regency, Maluku, was 38.87% in 2023.

This figure is up 8.91% from the previous year's 29.96%, while it has decreased by 9.6% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in South Buru Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.
