Actor Tio Pakusadewo's statement has sparked public discussion following his interview with presenter Uya Kuya on his YouTube channel. Tio described how drug factories are controlled from within prisons.
"They make it inside, (for example) vapes containing cannabis," Tio told Uya Kuya in the interview aired on Sunday (30/4/2023), as reported by *Katadata*.
Furthermore, Tio mentioned an inmate who orchestrated drug production from his cell, even controlling distribution in various locations, including Bali and Bandung.
According to *Suara.com*, Tio has been imprisoned twice for drug-related offenses. He was first arrested for possessing methamphetamine in December 2017. He was arrested again in South Jakarta in April 2020 for using methamphetamine and cannabis.
Aside from Tio's claims, what age group uses the most dangerous substances?
The National Narcotics Agency (BNN)'s *Indonesia Drugs Report 2022* categorizes drug users into three age groups: 15-24 years, 25-49 years, and 50-64 years. The 25-49 age group had the highest drug consumption in 2021.
In the 25-49 age group, 3% had ever used drugs in 2021, while 2.02% had used them in the past year.
The second largest group of users was the 50-64 age group, with 2.17% having ever used drugs and 1.88% using them in the past year.
Finally, in the 15-24 age group, 1.96% had ever used drugs and 1.87% had used them in the past year.
Generally, more men use drugs than women. BNN data shows higher drug use in urban areas compared to rural areas.
