Food Insecurity Prevalence in Padang City Reaches 6.52% in 2023

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Padang City, West Sumatra, reached 6.52% in 2023.

This figure is down 0.29% from the previous year's 6.81%, while it has increased by 2.76% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Padang City is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition vulnerability.

This means that the percentage of Padang City residents who consume food but lack sufficient energy intake does not reach 6.52% of the total population.
