Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Kapuas Hulu Decreased by 7.18% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan reached 16.69% in 2025.

This figure increased by 1.16% from the previous year's 15.53%, while over the last 5 years it has decreased by 7.18%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Kapuas Hulu Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Kapuas Hulu Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs account for up to 16.69% of the total population.

Compared to the other 13 regencies/cities in West Kalimantan Province, Kapuas Hulu Regency ranks 12th in terms of PoU. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Pontianak City (7.54%) and the highest (last rank) is Melawi Regency (19.49%).
