The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) received reports of 373 items or objects of gratification from the public during the Idul Fitri holiday or Lebaran 2023, with an estimated value of Rp240.71 million.
Of that amount, there were 345 reports of acceptance and 28 reports of rejection of gratification.
The details are as follows: 3 items consisting of souvenirs or plaques with an estimated value of Rp3.7 million. In addition, there were 292 items consisting of flower arrangements, food, and drinks with an estimated value of Rp164.39 million.
There were also 9 items consisting of money, vouchers, and precious metals with an estimated value of Rp6.4 million. Finally, there were 115 items in other forms with an estimated value of Rp66.2 million.
However, the KPK did not specify the origin of the public institutions that received the gratification. Currently, some of the reported items have been received by the KPK, and others are in the process of being sent by the reporters.
"For the receipt of gratification in the form of food, it has been directly channeled as social assistance (bansos) to those in need," wrote the KPK in an official statement received by Databoks, Thursday (4/5/2023).
Previously, the KPK issued an appeal through Circular Letter No. 6 of 2023 concerning Corruption Prevention and Gratification Control related to the holidays.
The KPK continues to encourage the public to avoid the practice of gratification, both as givers and recipients, especially gratification related to their positions and contrary to their duties.
"Because such actions can create conflicts of interest, contradict regulations and codes of ethics, and carry the risk of criminal penalties," said the KPK.
If, under certain conditions, a civil servant or state official is unable to refuse gratification, they are required to report it to the KPK no later than 30 working days from the date the gratification was received.
