This City Has the Highest Divorce Rate in East Java

Blitar City has the highest percentage of residents with "living divorced" status in East Java.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the population of Blitar City with living divorced status was 4,886 people in December 2021.

This number accounts for 3.09% of the total population of Blitar City, which is 158,244 people.

The next highest area with a population of living divorced status is Blitar Regency, at 3.05% of a total population of 1.23 million.

Followed by Malang Regency with a living divorced population of 2.93% of its total population.

Meanwhile, the lowest population with living divorced status is Sampang Regency, at only 1.12% of a total population of 927,632 people.

Following that are Bangkalan Regency at 1.16% of a total population of 1.08 million, and Lamongan Regency at 1.31% of a total population of 1.38 million.

The total population of East Java was recorded at 41.06 million at the end of last year. 860,000 people (2.1%) have a living divorced status. Meanwhile, those with a deceased divorced status number 2.25 million (5.47%).

There are also 16.66 million people (40.57%) of the East Java population who are unmarried, and 21.29 million people (51.86%) who are married.

Living divorced refers to the status of a person who has separated from their spouse through divorce and has not remarried.

Deceased divorced refers to a person whose spouse has died and who has not remarried.
