Bahrain's national team won 1-0 against Jordan in the final matchday of Group E of the 2023 Asian Cup at Al Janoub Stadium on Thursday (25/1/2024). This victory put Bahrain at the top of the standings and secured their place in the round of 16.
Bahrain's lone goal was scored by Abdullah Yusuf Helal in the 34th minute. As a result, The Red collected 6 points from all their matches during the group stage.
Although Jordan suffered a defeat, the team coached by Lhoussaine Ammouta had already secured their place in the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup. Jordan finished third in the standings with 5 points.
At the same stadium, a fierce duel took place between South Korea and Malaysia. This match ended in a 3-3 draw.
Initially, South Korea dominated the game from the start. However, the Taeguk Warriors only scored their first goal in the 21st minute through Jeong Woo Yeong's header after capitalizing on a corner kick from Lee Kang In.
Then Malaysia started scoring goals against their opponents thanks to Faisal Halim (51') and a penalty kick by Arif Aiman (62'), giving the Harimau Malaya a temporary 2-1 lead.
The Taeguk Warriors tried to turn the situation around through a free kick by Lee Kang In in the 83rd minute. Then, in the third minute of injury time in the second half, South Korea was awarded a penalty after Oh Hyeon Gyu was fouled by Junior Eldstal in the penalty box.
Son Heung Min stepped up and successfully scored (90+4'). South Korea almost ended the match with a 3-2 score, but Malaysia did not give up and managed to equalize through a shot by Romel Morales in the 90+15th minute.
Unfortunately, Malaysia's dramatic action did not succeed in qualifying them for the round of 16. The Harimau Malaya finished bottom of Group E with one point.
Meanwhile, South Korea finished second with 5 points and qualified for the round of 16.

The round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup is scheduled to start on January 28, 2024. The Australia vs. Indonesia match will be the opening match in the knockout stage.
