The General Election Commission (KPU) has determined 9,917 permanent candidate lists (DCT) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in the 2024 General Election. This number comes from 18 political parties (parpol) spread across 84 electoral districts (dapil) in Indonesia.
KPU Chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari stated that all participating political parties in the 2024 General Election have fulfilled the requirements for women's representation in nominations, namely a minimum of 30% of the proposed or determined candidate list.
"If averaged from the 18 national election participating political parties, the percentage [of women's representation] is 37.13%," said Hasyim in a press conference on the KPU YouTube channel, Friday (3/11/2023).
This provision is regulated in Law Number 22 of 2007 concerning Elections, stating that the composition of election organizers must involve at least 30% women's representation.
"The composition of the membership of the KPU, Provincial KPU, and District/City KPU considers women's representation of at least 30%," reads Article 6 Paragraph (5) of the Law.
