Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Sunday, August 3, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Sunday (8/3/2025) at 8:42 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 10 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption's visual was not observed. Mount Dukono's eruption is still ongoing as this report is being made.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcanic activity report, Mount Dukono's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on August 3, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 174 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 7-24 millimeters and earthquake durations of 33.24-87.57 seconds.

Subsequently, there were 2 distant tectonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 7-8 millimeters s-p 12.75-28.04 seconds and durations of 60.77-95.24 seconds, and 1 continuous tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 1-7 millimeters, dominant at 6 millimeters.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to engage in activities, climb, or approach the Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,445 volcanic eruptions/explosions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,184 times), while Mount Dukono erupted 459 times.
