This is a list of crimes committed in regencies/cities in West Kalimantan. Which one has the highest number?

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the number of crimes in West Kalimantan (Kalbar) province was 3,470 cases in 2020. This figure is down 29.7% from the previous year, which recorded 4,941 cases.

By regency/city, Pontianak City Police recorded the highest number of crimes, namely 1,149 cases. This was followed by Ketapang Police, Mempawah Police, and Sambas Police with 424 cases, 326 cases, and 291 cases respectively. Meanwhile, Sekadau Police recorded the lowest number of crimes, namely 44 cases.

Meanwhile, the risk of becoming a victim of crime for West Kalimantan residents was 82 people per 100,000 population in 2020. The highest risk was in Pontianak City, at 17 people per 100,000 population. The lowest risk was in Sekadau Regency, at 2 people per 100,000 population.

Conventional crimes frequently occurring and reported in West Kalimantan during 2020 included theft (982 cases or 23.72%), motorcycle theft (324 cases or 7.83%), and assault (316 cases or 7.63%).

Furthermore, there were 251 cases of embezzlement (6.06%), 154 cases of gambling (3.72%), and 149 cases of fraud (3.6%). Assault, embezzlement, and murder, while not very numerous, require serious attention in their handling.
