The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has released a list of the top 20 badminton players worldwide with the highest prize money earnings during the 2023 BWF World Tour.
Viktor Axelsen topped the list with a total prize money of US$645,095, approximately Rp10.02 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp15,536 per US$).
The Danish men's singles player showcased impressive performances throughout the 2023 season. He won six BWF World Tour titles, including the Malaysia Open, Indonesia Open, and China Open.
Axelsen's achievement surpassed An Se Young, the South Korean women's singles player, who was also highly productive last season.
An Se Young ranked second with prize money of US$628,020, equivalent to Rp9.75 billion. She earned this after winning eight tour titles and reaching the semifinals at the end of the season.
Chen Yu Fei from the women's singles sector came in third, earning US$469,220, or Rp7.2 billion.
Only one Indonesian representative made the list: Jonatan Christie, ranked 13th. The athlete, known as Jojo, earned US$260,335, or Rp4.04 billion.
