For the past five years, Jakarta's IPM has been the highest in Indonesia.

In 2015, the Human Development Index (HDI) for the DKI Jakarta region reached 78.99, categorized as high. This figure was the highest compared to other provinces in Indonesia and exceeded the national average of 69.55, which is still categorized as medium. The HDI is one parameter for assessing the impact of a region's or country's economic policies on its people's quality of life.

Data released by BPS from 2010-2015 placed Jakarta as the province with the highest score. This indicates Jakarta as the most successful province in managing human resources and accessing other development aspects. However, this also highlights the development disparity with other provinces.

For example, in the management of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget, DKI's expenditure in 2015 reached Rp70 trillion. This figure far surpasses other provinces. West Java, with regional spending reaching Rp25 trillion, ranked second highest, less than half of DKI Jakarta's expenditure.
