Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Pamekasan Decreased by 3.2% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Pamekasan Regency, East Java, reached 9.43% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.2% from the previous year's 12.63%, while it has increased by 0.11% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Pamekasan Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Pamekasan Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 9.43% of the total population.

Compared to 37 other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Pamekasan Regency ranks 29th in terms of PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (highest ranking) is Gresik Regency (3.67%), and the highest (lowest ranking) is Situbondo Regency (13.33%).
