KLHK Finds 78 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in North Maluku (Saturday, December 13, 2025)

Based on the Ministry of Environment and Forestry's (KLHK) SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system, the last 24-hour monitoring showed 78 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 19 points compared to the previous period.

The data resulted from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (December 13, 2025) at 11:27 AM WIB. Of the 78 detected hotspots, 76 were medium-scale and 2 were low-scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale ranges from 0-29, the medium scale from 30-79, and the high scale from 80-100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of a forest and land fire occurring in a particular area.

The highest number of detected hotspots was in North Maluku with 26 points. Central Sulawesi ranked second with 10 hotspots. Central Java was in third place with 9 hotspots.

Seven hotspots were detected in Southeast Sulawesi, followed by East Kalimantan with 7 hotspots, and East Java and West Sumatra each had 4 and 3 detected hotspots, respectively.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and it is not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
