According to a report by the Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency, oil tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has sharply declined, as increased security risks have almost halted ship transit.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the maritime security level for the Strait of Hormuz has been raised to "critical".

"The highest risk category, following the confirmation of several attacks on commercial ships over the weekend in the Gulf of Oman, near Musandam, and in the coastal waters of the United Arab Emirates," Anadolu reported.
