Many factions within Indonesian Islamic organizations believe religion and politics are inseparable.

The majority of Indonesian Islamic community organizations (ormas) believe that religion and politics are inseparable.

This is based on a survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA, titled *Islamic Organizations, Islamic Parties, and Presidential Candidate Choices*, August 2023 edition.

The survey found that 56.9% of respondents identified themselves as members of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and 5.7% as members of Muhammadiyah. 3% of respondents claimed affiliation with other Islamic organizations, while 33.8% stated they were not affiliated with any Islamic organization.

A majority (54%) of NU respondents consider religion and politics inseparable, while 39.4% believe they should be separate.

Similarly, 67.5% of Muhammadiyah members stated that religion and politics are inseparable, compared to 27.5% who believe they should be separate.

The same trend was observed among other Islamic organizations and non-Islamic organization groups, as shown in the graph.

"The majority of all Muslims state that religion and politics are one, inseparable," said LSI Denny JA researcher, Ade Mulyana, in a virtual press conference on Tuesday (September 19, 2023).

The LSI Denny JA survey involved 1,200 respondents from various regions across Indonesia. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling method.

Data collection was conducted from August 1-8, 2023, using face-to-face interviews with questionnaires. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
