959 Suspects in the Late August Protest Riots, Most from East Java

The Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has named 959 people as suspects in the August 2025 riots. 664 suspects are adults, and 295 are children in conflict with the law (ABH).

"We differentiate the handling of adult and child suspects because the mechanisms are different," said the Head of Bareskrim Polri, Komjen Syahardiantono, in a press conference on Wednesday (September 24, 2025).

Syahardiantono stated that 214 child suspects have been returned to their parents under the supervision of the Correctional Institution, and 68 children have received diversion or restorative justice solutions.

These suspects are charged with various articles, ranging from vandalism, incitement, assault, theft, and others.

The highest number of suspects is in the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Timur) area, with 325 suspects; 185 adults and 140 children.
