“The increase in the price of basic commodities is most widely known (50%) and considered a challenge (31%) by young people, especially women and housewives,” PP17 stated in its National Benchmark Survey.

The rising cost of living, according to PP17, highlights how economic issues, particularly those related to the price of basic necessities and the rising cost of living, directly impact groups more involved in household management and daily consumption.

“These findings also demonstrate the link between economic issues and gender, where the economic burden (especially on households) is felt more by women than men,” PP17 explained.

The PP17 survey used a computer-assisted self-interviewing (CASI) method with 1,303 respondents aged 17-35 from across Indonesia between July 10-17, 2025.
