According to a Bluebell survey, high-net-worth consumers in Southeast Asia show the highest interest in overseas travel compared to other regions in Asia.

Throughout 2023-2025, the proportion of high-net-worth Southeast Asian respondents interested in leisure travel consistently exceeded 90%. This was followed by South Korea and Hong Kong, both above 80%.

Bluebell explained that this reinforces their role as active global luxury buyers.

“Japan, although historically more conservative, also shows new momentum—increasing from 50% (2024) to 64% (2025), indicating that outbound travel from this region is broadly recovering,” stated Bluebell in its 2025 Asia Lifestyle Consumer Profile.

Mainland China was the only country showing a significant decrease in intent to travel abroad—dropping from 78% in 2024 to 58% this year.

Bluebell stated that this figure is the lowest among all surveyed countries and marks a sharp 20-point decline.

“This likely reflects a combination of economic caution, shifting travel restrictions, or a renewed focus on domestic consumption and experiences,” Bluebell noted.

The Bluebell survey used an online interview method conducted from February 13 to March 23, 2025. A total of 1,500 high-net-worth Asian consumers aged 20-50 with a minimum expenditure of US$1,200 on lifestyle products in the past 6 months participated in the survey.
