133,000 Indonesian Children and Adolescents Involved in Traffic Accidents in H1 2025

According to data from the Indonesian National Police's National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas), 133,811 drivers under the age of 17 were involved in traffic accidents between January 1 and June 30, 2025.

Based on the type of vehicle used, the majority of children and teenagers involved in these accidents were motorcycle riders. This was followed by minibuses, medium trucks, pick-up trucks, and passenger vans.

The following are the top 10 types of vehicles driven by individuals under 17 involved in traffic accidents in the first half of 2025:

1. Motorcycles: 110,731 drivers

2. Minibuses: 7,132 drivers

3. Medium trucks: 3,196 drivers

4. Pick-up trucks: 1,416 drivers

5. Passenger vans: 1,306 drivers

6. Bicycles: 1,299 drivers

7. Mini trucks: 730 drivers

8. Passenger sedans: 623 drivers

9. Heavy trucks/trailers: 620 drivers

10. Electric bicycles: 519 drivers

Of all the drivers under 17 involved in accidents, 60,229 sustained minor injuries, 5,884 sustained serious injuries, and 5,711 died. Meanwhile, 61,987 drivers reported no injuries.

From this group, 67,509 were designated as suspects, 59,999 were not designated as suspects, and the status of 6,303 drivers is unknown.
