The Kompas Research and Development survey captured public expectations of the Jakarta Provincial Government in preserving traditional Betawi culture and improving the welfare of its workers.
The biggest expectation is the establishment of Betawi art studios in every village or sub-district, chosen by 33.6%.
Followed by 27.3% of respondents who hope that the provincial government can organize art performances regularly once a month or three months.
In addition to keeping Betawi arts alive, these two efforts are said to provide certainty of employment opportunities in the artists' expression space.
"The reason is, so far Betawi artists have only been involved in certain events, such as Jakarta's anniversary or other major events held in this metropolitan city," wrote Kompas R & D Researcher in his report, Thursday (5/26/2025).
